If your body jumps while sleeping or a body part jerks as you are falling asleep then that is a sigh of hyper-adrenal stress. Your body is too revved up as a result of a nervous system or endocrine problem. Tying that limb down or strapping yourself to the bed will address the symptom, but over and above the impracticability of this, it will only address the symptom, not the problem. Your adrenal glands are more than likely exhibiting higher than normal cortisol levels from an acute or chronic and unresolved stress. Essentially your nervous and hormonal systems are too hyped up in trying to deal with this stress. Work on reducing the stress. Cut out sugar, caffeine and anaerobic workouts.
